2010 SNO Meeting Educational Objectives

Abstracts for the 2010 SNO Annual Meeting will be chosen on the basis of their research merit and their conformation with the following educational objectives for this meeting. After attending conference sessions, participants should be able to achieve these objectives.

  • Construct a list of current studies on epidemiologic factors associated with central nervous system tumors;
  • Using neurocognitive intervention strategies, create a plan to diminish the impact of brain tumors and their treatments on patients‚ quality of life;
  • Discuss new research on cell biology, signal transduction inhibition strategies, and factors associated with angiogenesis and invasion in brain tumors;
  • Apply therapeutic strategies related to new research on genes that are associated with brain tumors;
  • Discuss new research on CNS antitumor immunoreactivity;
  • Apply advances in imaging and neuropathology to diagnose, prognose, and measure response to therapy for patients with CNS tumors;
  • Use advances in pharmacology, experimental therapeutics, and radiobiology to improve future therapies for patients with CNS tumors;
  • Utilize results of new clinical studies for central nervous system tumors for improved patient outcomes;
  • Utilize symptom management initiatives to improve quality of life for brain tumor patients.
