Event Description

The 2010 SNO Education Day on November 18 includes concurrent sessions on Tumor Angiogenesis Research and Treatment, and Quality of Life/Symptom Management.

The Tumor Angiogenesis Research and Treatment track will have sessions devoted to:
  • Molecular regulation of tumor angiogenesis
  • Forms and sequence of angiogenesis in brain tumors
  • Molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis and experimental model systems
  • Imaging brain tumor angiogenesis in vivo
  • Tumor angiogenesis as a systemic mechanism - bone marrow-derived cells in glioblastoma neovascularization
  • Brain cancer stem-like cells and the vascular niche
  • Novel anti-angiogenic agents/therapeutics showing efficacy in preclinical brain tumor models
  • Anti-angiogenic agents available for clinical trials
  • Current status of anti-angiogenic therapies for brain tumors
  • Radiographic assessments of anti-angiogenic therapies
  • Assessing therapeutic response to anti-angiogenic therapies
  • Mechanisms of resistance to anti-angiogenic therapy and post-anti-angiogenic therapeutic strategies
  • Anti-angiogenic therapy for pediatric brain tumors
  • Anti-VEGF therapy for other nervous system tumors: NF2 and VHL related tumors

A Quality of Life/Symptom Management session will be presented concurrently on Education Day

 

  • Cognitive changes for primary brain tumors
  • Functional imaging and cognitive pathways
  • Treatment-related changes in function connectivity in brain tumor patients: a magnetoencephalography study.
  • Latest information in cognitive changes in patients focal and whole brain radiation
  • Present and future treatments for protection from late effects of radiation therapy
  • Cognitive assessment tools for clinical trials and use in the clinic setting
  • Managing cognitive changes from the beginning of treatment: Lessons learned from the pediatric brain tumor population
  • Cognitive rehabilitation: an integrated, personalized approach
  • Identification and management of depression in brain tumor patients: a compelling issue
  • Effect of exercise and fitness in brain tumor survivors
  • New studies in maintaining quality of life in caregivers
  • Living with the brain tumor: the essential patient/family/workplace approach

Comments

Registration for the Education Day includes continental breakfast and boxed lunch for Thursday, November 18.

Deadlines
The Pre-registration deadline for lowest registration rates is October 15.
 

The Registration deadline is November 10. Online registrations cannot be accepted after November 10. You will have to register on on-site, and on-site surcharges will apply.

CANCELLATIONS must be received in writing no later than November 10, and registration fees will be refunded less a $50 handling fee. Cancellations received after November 10 cannot be refunded, but the meeting registration can be transferred to another person with written authorization.
