PRION 2010 will be the top Global Annual TSE Conference in prion research, following a sequence of PRION meetings that were originally organized by the EU Network of Excellence NeuroPrion. In this proud tradition, PRION 2010 will cover all aspects of this fascinating scientific area. PRION 2010 will be a meeting of greatest interest for neuroscientists, protein structural biologists, geneticists, medical specialists including neurologists, neuropathologists, hygiene experts and blood product providers, veterinarians, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, industry developers, risk assessors and managers. An outstanding list of Plenary Lecture, Symposia and Workshop Speakers will be complemented by debate fora on the plethora of original input from Poster Presentations.

PRION 2010 will be held immediately before the XVIIth International Congress of Neuropathology (ICN 2010, www.icn2010.org), Sept. 11-15, 2010, at the same venue. ICN 2010 will present cutting-edge scientific progress in neuropathology, the core discipline on diseases of the nervous system that links basic and clinical neurosciences in diagnosis and research. The successiveness of these major congresses will ease attendance at two major meetings of overlapping interests and allow a joint meeting between both events on Sept. 11, with top-class symposia and lectures.

Neuropathology continues to be the core discipline in research on diseases of the nervous system, linking basic and clinical neurosciences in diagnosis and research. Particularly in times of crisis, it is of pivotal importance to present neuropathology to the world as an indispensable and dynamic medicoscientific discipline. Remarkable advances in the neurosciences ensure that ICN 2010 will be a meeting of greatest interest and cutting-edge scientific reports. The International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) is the major global organization focused on the issues of pediatric oncology, and its Annual Congress is recognized as the most relevant educational meeting for those involved in various fields of pediatric oncology. The 2011 Annual Blood-Brain Barrier Consortium meeting will be held March 24-26, at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington. The focus of the meeting will be translational research in the blood-brain barrier and neuro-oncology. The key topics are "The Impact of Cancer Therapy on Cognition and Quality of Life" and "The Brain as an Immunologically and Pharmacologically Privileged Site." The meeting is partially funded by a NIH R13 meeting grant with support from the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders. The 2011 meeting is organized in collaboration with the International Brain Barriers Society (IBBS).
