Peter A. Steck Memorial Award

Anderson Cancer CenterRequest for ApplicationThe Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation sponsors an annual $5,000 award in memory of Peter A. Steck, Ph.D., whose research, funded in part by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, led to the discovery of MMAC1/PTEN. The award recognizes scientific excellence by a young investigator in a research area relevant to cancer of the central nervous system.
Eligibility: Applicants must be junior investigators (basic or clinical) at the level of research associate, instructor, or assistant professor with no more than three years in rank. The chosen investigator will be expected to deliver a 20-minute presentation on the award-winning research in Houston 9 May 2007. Additional funds will be provided to cover travel expenses.
1. Applicant's curriculum vitae
2. A single paper (published in the past three years) representing the applicant's best first-authored work
3. A one-page description of the significance/impact of the research described in the publication

Application must be received by March 30, 2007. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.Applications will be reviewed by an Award Committee, and will give Award recommendations to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation will make final award decision.
