Tufts Medical Center offers both clinical and basic science research opportunities in the area of neuro-onology.

    -Clinical research include clinical trials design and implementation, study of quality of life of patients receiving
     chemotherapy and radiation therapy, clinical comparative effectiveness and personalized medicine based on molecular
     profile, race, age and gender
    -Basic Science research include stem cell research of GBM tumors, tumor cell signal transduction, increase
     Temozolomide sensitivity through methylation of MGMT gene in transgenic model, microRNA in gliomas and
     nano-particle technology application in treatment of gliomas
 

Research Interests/projects:

Clinical: There are many opportunities of clinical trials design and implementation as well as participation. Here are a few examples at the time of submitting this form.
     -Design and implement a phase II clinical trial using combination of bevacizumab with temozolomide for treatment of
      high grade glioma
     -Design and implement a phase II clinical trial using Erbitux or other targeted therapy drugs with whole brain radiation for
      treatment of brain metastasis
     -Design and implement a phase II clinical trial using intravencular injection of Depocyt for treatment of glioma
     -Design and implement a phase II clinical trial studying quality of life patients with brain metastasis receiving
      chemotherapy and radiation therapy
 

Basic Science research:
    -Chemosensitivity of tumor stem cell derived from primary GBM tumors
    -Cells signal transduction investigation and interruption using Stat3/Jak2 inhibitors in gliomas
    -Increase Temozolomide sensitivity through methylation of MGMT gene in transgenic mice model
    -Investigation of microRNA in gliomas
    -Applying nano-particle technology in treatment of gliomas
