The Brain Tumour Charity will host a webinar on December 9 titled "Pushing the safety boundaries of surgery for glioblastoma: the FUTURE-GB trial"
Glioblastoma is an incurable brain cancer for which surgery/radiotherapy and chemotherapy are offered to improve symptoms and increase progression-free and overall survival. Of these modalities, surgery offers the best chance to achieve tumour control. Maximal surgical resection with minimal neurological deficit is the goal. Advanced brain imaging with diffusion tractography, intraoperative ultrasound and 5-ALA fluorescence during surgery could optimise outcome. In this webinar, we discuss how each technique plays a role and how they are brought together in the NIHR-funded FUTURE-GB surgery trial for patients with glioblastoma
Overview of the webinar
- Current standards of surgery for glioblastoma
- Role of advanced brain imaging with Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) in glioblastoma
- How intraoperative ultrasound maximises glioma surgery
- Bringing it together: the FUTURE-GB trial
- Q&A
Speakers:
- Professor Puneet Plaha (University of Oxford, UK)
- Dr Natalie Voets (University of Oxford, UK)
- Professor Dipankar Nandi (Imperial College London and Charing Cross Hospital, UK)
