Be part of a groundbreaking scientific event that will integrate neuroscience and cancer biology to spur a wave of innovation in cancer research and treatments. Advanced Biology and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center present a two-day virtual symposium featuring contributions from over 30 leading international experts.

“I was always amazed by the minimal, if any, role attributed to the nervous system in cancer,” said symposium organizer Moran Amit in an interview with Monty Montano, Editor in Chief of Advanced Biology. “ It is time for neuroscientists, cancer biologists, and clinicians to band together in cancer neuroscienceresearch, an unexplored territory that holds a lot of therapeutic potential for cancer patients and their caregivers.”

By building on nearly a decade of collaborative research and discussions among our speakers and workshop attendees, this meeting aims to explore the interface between cancer biology and neuroscience and the impact of the nervous system on tumor development, tumor progression, and patient outcomes.

Presentations and discussions will cover several emerging areas, including the neural regulation of cancer initiation and growth, neuro-immune interactions, neural plasticity in the tumor microenvironment, translating research from bench to bedside, and quality of life issues. The meeting will bring together leading experts from across the fields of neuroscience, cancer biology, and immunology, as well as oncologists, surgeons, neurologists, integrative medicine and palliative care specialists, patients, and patient advocates to facilitate discussion of exciting new concepts and developments in this emerging field.

We welcome your participation in this event to witness this new field taking shape. The symposium will feature sessions devoted to fundamental and translational research as well as practical workshops and panel discussions.

Topics include:

  • Neural regulation of cancer
  • Glial cell regulation of cancer
  • Cancer neuro-immunology
  • CNS and PNS malignancies
  • Neurological sequelae of cancer therapies
  • Quality of life, neural health, and rehabilitation
  • Advanced modeling of cancer neurobiology

Presented by Advanced Biology and MD Anderson, this virtual symposium is free to attend and welcomes researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world.
